Story: One day, an anonymous person uploads a corrupted file to the New Releases in DMZX as a prank, named DIGITAL.MZX. Before any admin download it to check it, a n00b decides to try it out. He runs it, and a glitch message appears, before MZX crashes:

411 0f y0ur d1g174lmzx 4r3 b3l0ng 70 us, n00b

He gets online to tell DMZX about the strange file.

DMZX isn't there. Instead, the same message appears where the title page should be. He logs on IRC to tell DMZXers what happened. (I have never used IRC, go easy on me)

n00bzer4u: I ran it, and that wierd message appeared

Exophase: Hey, now. I just looked at the serverspace where DMZX is supposed to be
Exophase: i found 5 different files before I got kicked out, for some reason.
Exophase: I just created an interface to search the files for the missing code.
Exophase: I need someone who is good at MZX platformers to use it.
Exophase: Any takers?


Sigh... the classic save DMZX scenario... basicly, you are the person who decides to use the interface to search the files, to find all of the code that used to be there. You incounter things ranging from Bats, all the way to Glitches. Game play is like a normal MZX platformer, except there is no horizontal scrolling. Items are like Metroid items, and infact, most of the music is Metroid music. I am sorry to say, though, the music is all PC SPEAKER. Fortunatly, it sounds pretty OK, so you wont have to worry too much. Because there are 5 files, there are 5 bosses... and five levels to explore, each of them being 20x12 screens. Included are editors to use to create or edit graphics, and if you know how the screen loader and item placer work, you can create your own adventures.

NRG TANKS Complete: 1 (1 per area, except 2 in first area)
MISSLE TANKS Complete: (3 per area, 10 missles in a pack. No limit. Killing a boss gives you 50 more, bringing the grand total of missles to 350. You WILL be out by the end)
Special Items Complete: 0

Also, I would like to state that Kuddy's quote from Ripster in his signature had to do with a "Misunderstanding" at Zeuxworld with me. That is why he keeps saying it is a hacker in the intro.

Oh, dammit. F**kadoodledoo. While I was typing my first version of the first post, Firefox froze along with my computer. I had my game open at the time, I was just finishing the MISSLE TANKs. I managed to save it before the freeze took total effect, but the damage was done. If someone who knows the MZX file format is interested in trying to scavenge data from a corrupt MZX file, here:

EDIT: On the bright side, I used separate files to save my work, so all of my rooms and blocks are still around

EDIT2: And my editors are still existant in an older form or the game... screw vertical only... that wasn't created yet... it looks like there is hope even if nothing is recoved.

Also, if it helps, MZX said the game was password protected when I tried to run it the first time.

It's in config.txt. And your .mzx is corrupted beyond repair, as far as I can tell. And this time it's not even MZX's fault...
