I don't see a command or counter to set volume of SFX. I use the (volume #) command to set music volume, it seems like there should be a command to set SFX volume too, since it can be changed independently from within the F2 menu. Thank you for your consideration.
Currently working on Servo for MegaZeux, I hope to complete it by the middle of 2015? Who knows...

I agree that more control over sound effects would be nice—not just a global volume setting, but individual volumes, being able to end specific SFX... new counters would probably be the only way to do it, since debytecode and functions are a pipe dream, so I guess someone should come up with a good setup for them and I'll put them on the list.

set "thing.sam" "new_sfx&freq&,&volume&"
set "thing.sam" "freq_sfx&freq&"
set "thing.sam" "volume_sfx&volume&"
set "thing.sam" "end_sfx"

set "sfx_volume" "volume"

man I don't know I'm just winged that

Updating status to: Flagged For Future Version
Updating severity to: 1 - Low
Updating version to: GIT

Since we need a lot of counters to handle this, it might be more reasonable when we get actual functions or compiled expressions. Until then, it'd be making every counter lookup slower.
