285 - "Exploration - r0x0r j00" ------------------- Overall - 2 Blue Buckaroo strikes again. I prey that this was supposed to be as stupid as it was. Too bad I don't feel like being meniacally insane...I'd give the game a 30. :) Theme - 5 Well, you did have to explore ... kinda. Gameplay- 0 ... Gameplay? Plot - 0 ... Plot?! Graphics- 1 (sympathy point. I mean, the- re *were* graphics. And they flashed! Wow!) Sound - 2 Erm, there was someone saying "explore" over and over again in the background...that's original, I guess... ------------------- ------------------- 714 - "Entry No. 714" ------------------- Overall - 5 Umm...bad. Theme - 6 "Let's go ~Cexplore~F this house" was about the extent of theme this game had. Gameplay- 2 Walking around a poorly-drawn and barren house with a big ugly smilie isn't my idea of jaw-dropping fun. Plot - 1 "Let's go ~Cexplore~F this house." `Nuff said. Graphics- 2 There was some ugly customiz- ed stuff as well as a big blocky grey smilie staring at me. Sound - 1 Loud, evil laugh. That sums up all the sound in the game. ------------------- ------------------- 936 - "Ford Exploration" ------------------- Overall - 13 Urm...I don't quite think that THIS is what ibrahim meant by "Explore," but it certainly is an original way to look at it! Theme - 2 Like I said: wrong kind of explore. Nice try, though. Gameplay- 10 A "racing" game, running over stuff with a car for points.. someone's been playing too much Grand Theft Auto. Plot - 1 Umm...learn how to drive a Ford Explorer. Yep. Graphics- 3 People were default Megazeux smilies, the customized grap- hics were pretty much totally sub-par. Sound - 4 Unoriginal music, limited use of sound effects. Remind me why I spent so much money on a state-of-the-art speaker system to listen to Green Day with low-quality guitar samp- les, please. ------------------- ------------------- 4214 - "Star Quest - The Next Gen" *RUNNER-UP* ------------------- Overall - 22 A very nice game. Unfortunat- ely, there was a show- stopping bug on planet Kgnei- czxceghkop. Even after I went in and edited the code and started playing on Kgneiczxc- eghkop I got an out-of-memory robot error. Apparently 79kb conventional memory isn't enough these days... That isn't team 4214's fault, though, so I can't dock any points for it. This one has Eric Drobile written aallll over it. :) Him or Justin Sheetz. Or both...hmm... Theme - 12 I guess I'm kind of making an assumption here that you wou- ld be exploring on planet Kgneiczxceghkop more. The story-line at the beginning lets even the start of the game be in-theme. Gameplay- 10 Standard inventory-based adv- enture game. Nothing truly unique at all. Plot - 13 From the beginning the plot was strong, and although when Captain Krap announced his ship-destroying intention it was a bit sudden, the entire melded together pretty well. Graphics- 9 The graphics were very nice to look at, and although it had been done before, the BtB characters were very nice. Sound - 10 All the sound and music in the game was nice, original, and came with a cute little umbrella. ------------------- ------------------- 4849 - "Fog" ------------------- Overall - 10 I'm not a freakin' quality control person, guys! If you are going to send in games, for god's sake, at least try to play through them ONCE!! The "Start" board was the title screen. I had to go in and change that. The game ran in darkness when I exit- ed the cave since someone didn't reset the color inte- nsity. After that, I didn't have any idea what was happ- ening and the game basically stopped. Yes, in 24 hours I can expect some bugs, but this is just pathetic. "Test"ing each board individually simply doesn't work. Theme - 12 Go find people on a mysteri- ous planet. Not original, but it works. Gameplay- 9 I have a major beef when it comes to having robots control my character. It makes the player sluggish and totally screws up shoot- ing. The code for it was extremely well-constructed, but still, bad bad bad. Graphics- 10 Absolutely BEAUTIFUL graphics in this game. I don't know what else to say. Totally breathtaking. Sound - 8 One point docked because some of the MODs were missing (which is strange because there was an apparent list on the test board of all of them. All of those were included, but they still weren't all there. Oh well. Another docked because they didn't include any of the SAM files. When I played the "boss" (in test mode, since it was impossible to get th- ere in-game without serious recoding), whenever it shot its laser, I got a SAM not found error. Very icky. ------------------- ------------------- 5105 - "Space Scout" *WINNER* ------------------- Overall - 24 This game is the winner IMO because it actually involved exploring and discovering, and it involved some think- ing. It was semi-linear, not totally linear, which was also a plus. Theme - 12 You had to explore the isla- nd to find people and things that would get you off there and back on with life. Gameplay- 8 Basic Inventory-based adven- ture without player- inventory interaction. Plot - 15 You had to explore the isla- nd to find people and things that would get you off there and back on with life. You also had to save your co-pilot from death. And you got the girl! w00t! Graphics- 5 Some customization, some default Megazeux graphics. Sound - 9 For using only two MODs, the game artist did a remarkable job of using them well to convey the atmosphere. ------------------- ------------------- 5236 - "The Secret of Conflict Island" *RUNNER UP* ------------------- Overall - 23 Very nicely done, especial- ly for 24 hours. There we- re a few outstanding bugs, mostly causing the player to permenenantly freeze up. And the plot was cliched. But other than that, the game was a real hit. Theme - 10 Erm, well, you didn't real- ly have to EXPLORE... Gameplay- 13 Most definately a first for Megazeux was the gameplay. Unfortunately, it appeared that they didn't finish it and it was severly flawed. Plot - 9 I don't like cheap rip-offs of other games. `Nuff said. Graphics- 9 Very nice. Sound - 10 Excellent use of ORIGINAL music and sound effects. ------------------- ------------------- 5666 - "The Horror....." ------------------- Overall - 9 Hey. They tried...kinda. ... It was nice to look at, okay?! Theme - 0 *cough* Gameplay- 0 No gameplay. Plot - 10 Wake up, don't remember any- thing. I'm going to assume that if this had actually been a game you would have to explore the island to se- arch for your lost identity. But it was that "dastardly team 5666!" Graphics- 10 Beautifully hand-drawn beach scene. Sound - 0 No sound. ------------------- ------------------- 6068 - "Xpedition" ------------------- Overall - 14 (Average of Other Judges Scores -Ib) Theme - 12 Gameplay- 8 BtB in its entirety, includ- ing the required space-bar pressing. Plot - 10 Eh..eheheh... Graphics- 9 Nice. Sound - 9 No SFX, Good Music (but a bit weird). ------------------- ------------------- 6361 - "Soul Excursion" ------------------- Overall - 15 Somehow, I doubt that this was made in less than 24 hours, and since it has, ehm, NOTHING to do with the theme (unless you want to get philisophical and say that you were exploring the brain of a girl) I wouldn't be surprised if they did work on it before the star- ting time. Theme - 5 I give them 5 because the thing really didn't have much of anything to do with exploration--it would have been excellent if the DoZ topic had been, like, love or soul or something, but it wasn't, so here we are. Gameplay- 12 A twist between an RPG and an adventure game. Reminds me of...umm...a Duky Inc. game. Plot - 10 The plot was basically esc- ape from the evil stone land. Hmm...wrong DoZ. :) Graphics- 10 Wow. Sound - 8 Excellent, original music, but a lack of sound effects keeps this from being a pe- rfect 10.
