Template talk:MZXer

The notion here is to make a nifty template for MZXer pages that are not userpages, that can provide a more objective source of information. The reason the template displays with 'notable releases' is to discourage really prolific people from putting 100 games on the list of their own page; the reason it says 'releases' is to make sure that only released games get noted there. Vaporware is mean to denote anything that falls victim to democurses or koji syndrome, etc. Still thinking on whether pictures are appropriate, so thoughts on that would be good; maybe it could be put under 'notable releases' with like 3 slots for the really notable ones with a scaled screenshot each?

<KKairos> am thinking on a template for MZXers that would be separate from the userpage template <wildweasel> Hm, I'm thinking any MZXer profiles that are currently on userpages should be moved to their own page instead <wildweasel> so that way userpages can just be used as profiles <KKairos> yeah <KKairos> this makes Sense <wildweasel> the MZXer page should be an objective look at what they've done for the community and anything relevant to the community itself <KKairos> but should we have a neat template on the actual mzxer pages <KKairos> like just listing games, not as much personal info as the userpages <wildweasel> Listing games, community activity dates, perhaps other relevant data like if they hosted a website or forum or contest <wildweasel> maybe the last one there should be kept to the article, though <KKairos> Yeah.

<KKairos> ok i am going to see if i can make this template happen <KKairos> i'll forward you the URL when i get a blank one worked out <KKairos> should we include ZZT games on this? (asking mostly because i know ZU includes mzx games on theirs, but their zzter template is more like our user template) <KKairos> ok, so semantics question: i'm thinking of putting "MZX releases" instead of "MZX games" <KKairos> partly to *************************** <-- OOH CIA BLACKOUT NOW YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I SAID <KKairos> for instance if we included all of CJA's "MZX Games", there'd be like 100 in that box <KKairos> versus just his releases, which is 20-30 counting demos <wildweasel> Yes, and perhaps a mildly insulting category for the unreleased junk <KKairos> Maybe "Failed Projects"? <wildweasel> "Vaporware" <KKairos> But then if it gets released as a project dump it's not really vaporware <KKairos> But I think the point will be gotten across <KKairos> actually waht am i say <KKairos> ing <KKairos> i'm reading the colloquialism too literally <KKairos> http://www.digitalmzx.net/wiki/index.php?title=Template:MZXer <wildweasel> I think this works pretty well, but what's with the "proprietary" part <KKairos> i have no idea <KKairos> it was there when i started <KKairos> i think MAYBE giant or whoever wrote it put it there, but i'm not sure how proprietary it can be on a wiki <KKairos> ok one last thing, i guess <KKairos> do you think maybe for the case of insanely prolific cases we should change 'releases' to 'notable releases'? <KKairos> or is that not necessary <wildweasel> I think so, yeh <wildweasel> I can't think of a better header than "notable releases" <KKairos> then maybe we could give a full list of games in the article itself if we wanted? <wildweasel> Yeah, like a Wikipedia "discography" page <KKairos> i like it <KKairos> http://www.digitalmzx.net/wiki/index.php?title=Ibrahim <-- how's that look <wildweasel> That should do, I think <KKairos> cool <KKairos> wanted to get a second opinion before i did more
