I absolutely love this game for some reason. Even with the absense of music, this game has an oldskool sensibility and simplicity that is all but lacking in new releases. Features a storyline that takes you from your forest home, through the deserts, through molten catacombs, all the way into space (although it's not without grammatical errors). It's probably one of the longest and most epic MZX games ever made. Definitely recommended to see the way things were.

What Luke forgot to mention was that the story was /quite bad/. The gameplay is quite vanilla, and quickly gets ordinary. Classic or not, there _were_ better MZX games out at the same time. Sorry, but this still comes off as being quite mediocre.

A constant lack of care in the presentation of this certainly ambitious game- spelling, pointlessly tiny viewports, occasional program bugs, lack of sound, and terrible graphics, mar what might be an attractive series of find-the-key shoot-the-built-in and escape-from-the-boring-maze excersizes.

An above-average MZX adventure for 1995, considering much of its competition was in "Arisa: Before the Dawn" (the obviously superior game in production values, if not in plot).

I can't in good conscience give this game a five, but like Luke I too enjoyed this game. Ah, the memories. It may be bad by modern standards, but it's its *own kind of bad*. Really has ambience. No bias or preconceived notions created by any kind of community. It's not the best game, but there's not too many others like it.

August appears to have been made back in MZX 1.0, judging from the old default graphics. This was probably an epic game back in the day, but obviously dated today.

The story features a man named August as he embarks on an adventure full of unremarkable characters, rapid jumping between plot points, and a lack of logical sense. Gameplay is obviously very vanilla as you go from one board to another, find keys, shoot built ins, and escape simple but still annoying mazes. Graphics are again old default, with only a few changes like people and walls. There's no music, and sound effects are just default PC speaker.

Sadly, the march of MZX technology has introduced a couple of bugs into this game. One of them puts you right by the correct exit in a cave, but you might not know this and head to the other exit instead which sends you back to the previous board. Another one has the final boss give a lot of negative ammo. Back then, that would've given you a lot of ammo; but now, you'll suddenly have no ammo and thus no way to shoot and beat him. I recommend playing through the editor and giving yourself a ton of ammo.

Overall, August is quite a historical piece of MZX history. Far better games have come out since then, but it's still interesting to see what was considered a great MZX game back in the old days.
