"-Your guy is SUPPOSED to be hard to control."

Story:
Taken straight from the game: "In the far future, asteroids are mined for their goods. Unfortunately, terrible creatures known as Alientoids attack transports attempting to carry minerals from the asteroids to local space stations. A special transport known as a Gopher is used to withstand attacks from the Alientoids and defend the space station at the same time. The Gopher brings asteroids to the space station for mining. You are a Gopher pilot and it is your job to protect the space station while bringing it minerals." I'll put in my two cents in a second.

Design:
Asteroids this ain't. Although the author claims that he drew inspiration from it, the game is far too clumsy to be a suitable Asteroids clone. Controlling your ship is frustrating because of the poorly implemented inertia engine, and the level design suffers because of it. The player can also hide behind their HUD, which makes frustrating controls even more frustrating when you can't see your ship.

Gameplay:
The gameplay wouldn't be so bad if objects in each level were bigger than 1x1 objects. Fixing something this simple would have made the game much more playable. It will take you about 1-2 minutes to touch any object in any level, unless you can somehow condition yourself to play the game with the broken inertia engine.

Presentation:
Nothing major here, but at least Joe made the game look like a space game. The graphics are kinda nifty.

Overall, I can tell that there is definitely some imagination here (e.g. the Game Over and Ending screens), but Gopher suffers from poor execution, and it's a shame because this could have been a fun little game.
