Tearaway is a game, or rather, a project dump of a game that was released in 2009. There also exists a demo, and an even older demo from 2002 that was worked on by gofer-chan (check out the Game Version drop-down). I really wanted to like this game; too bad it's not a game, just fragments of one.

There's a bit here to appreciate--the scenery looks great and the music is fitting and catchy. There are what looks like four complete levels, some empty boards, and a level where you encounter something that looks like a Pikachu that wasn't finished.

The platformer mechanics are horrific. They are truly godawful, albeit perhaps not quite to the degree that Duck Lanse or CR2-0's were. Zed's jump halts in mid-air for no explicable reason from time to time. Sloped hills act like walls, horizontal platforms slide out from beneath the player instead of moving the player with them, dropping the player into lava or into an ear-splitting fall...

This game also suffers from what I call "MZX edge jumping syndrome", where the player can't jump from the very edge of a platform while moving horizontally because the horizontal movement is handled before the game engine detects a jump, in this case, because of lockplayer ns.

If you're looking for more of the scenery and atmosphere in the screenshots, or want to listen to a couple of cool tracks, give it a look. Otherwise, there's not much to see here...
