David N. Collection has a few games in it. Nine of them. Most are simple games using the built-in mechanics, and are also incomplete. A shame, too, because there's some good material in here.

Most of them have in common that they have lots of exposition, dialogue or both. It's not terrible, either! Some is even good. Long introductory text blocks are common.

Another thing most of them have in common is original and slightly original music. Most of it sounds like it was based on other music, mostly Zeux series songs. Some are simple instrument swaps, some sound like remixes and some sound more original. Again, some of these are good, but it's hit or miss. There's a few really nice tracks in there, I can say.

WRISE.MZX is a built-in combat game. In the game's only level, you fight your way through a building and find floppy disks. It's pretty easy and can be completed in about five minutes.

Traps is a game like Lemmings where you try to prevent the lemmings from escaping. Unfortunately it falls apart at level 3 because of some improperly programmed traps. The final level, Level 5, though, works and can be completed. What's there and works is kind of cool, but there really isn't much.

Space Assassin is an adventure game on a spaceship. It would have been quite nonlinear if it had been completed, with multiple endings. It's a real shame this one wasn't completed. At least there's enough content to get two bad endings.

Scorpion Swamp would have been a swords and magic type of action RPG, but there's only a few spells and a few simple fights before it runs out of content.

Ground is a complete game! It's a combination JRPG/platformer with elemental magic. It's basically another gem quest. It's pretty well made and can be completed, but the sidescroller parts are maddening. They're full of areas where you could drop into a lava pit without knowing. Memorization is the only way to not die instantly in these areas. It's a decent game, but a flawed one still.

Dark Side would have been a built-in combat/puzzle game with robotic-based expansion upon the built-in mechanics. Too bad there's only two levels in it. It seems like it would have been really good. Awesome stylish title logo, anyway.

The three Crusade games are.. sort of the same game told from the perspective of three characters. They're all incomplete, with the Wong Chung Bang version only having three boards. They're sort of stereotypical "newbie" games. One of the first things I encountered in the L4Suicide Crusade was a field of invisible mines where the only way to pass is trial and error. This is a large area and there are a lot of mines. If you can work through the flaws in these games, they have a mildly successful action movie feel to them.

It's worth checking out, maybe, if you're looking for game ideas. There is some cool stuff in here even if only one game is complete. 3 stars because of Ground being a full game.
