MZX Miner is similar to those Flash-based "grind-em-up" games you might have seen elsewhere on the 'net - the objective is to shovel through loads of dirt underground to collect various miscellaneous MZX-themed artifacts, which can be sold for cash in town. You can use said cash to buy more tools with which to shovel more dirt, quicker and more efficiently.

Quite unlike the above-mentioned Flash games, though, there is a very real possibility of your character dying, at which point you will lose everything. Basically, within the mine, you'll find spikes, water, and explosives that will hurt you. If you happen to run into them too many times, you'll die and your score is tallied up. But what compounds this is a rather confusing health system - depending on your level of health, you will need to pay for a specific level of health care in town. Light injuries can easily be fixed with a portable health kit, but if you're below half your max health, you'll need to pay for a full-on surgery, which costs way more money. The portable health kits will not work below a certain level of health. So if you get badly wounded early on, you're basically screwed.

I see MZX Miner as the kind of game you'd want to play "idly." It's not really a game you want to completely focus on; it's the kind of game that you might want to play to pass the time during a lecture or something. (Note: Weasel does not condone the use of MZX games in class.)
