Hey, for all of you who havent noticed (I sure didnt) Believe it or not theres a new winamp out. Winamp 5. Which, most importantly, supports plugins from Winamp 2 and basically has every feature of Winamp 2 with all the new features of Winamp 3. For this alone, its l33t in my books. But wait, theres more, you can now BURN CDs with winamp directly. And on a personal note, Winamp 5 is just plain cool. Im sorry, it is, it owns. If you havent yet, and your a winamp fan such as myself, its the winamp you've been waiting for since Winamp 2. I highly recommend checking it out. http://www.winamp.com/ <<

<Jotz> Sorry, but I don't think this project is going to succeed like a delicious mint julep! did.

I like it. I was boycotting Winamp 3 because of its instability and the fact that it couldn't support my PSF plugin. Winamp 5 DOES own...the fact that you have to pay $15 to burn CD's with it though...

Why would you want to burn CDs with Winamp anyway? IMO, that is something that is best done with a devoted prog like Nero.

For skins, I HIGHLY recommend searching the Winamp.COM Skins Database for "MMD3". Nice interface, and so many color themes that it's bound to match your desktop somehow. Even includes two DeviantArt themes, which work well with me DeviantArt desktop setup. For gimmick skins, check out "The Gun", which is a model of a Colt .45 (and you can pull out the clip and it's the EQ box).

Burn CD's with winamp? :laugh:

That almost sounds like it's going in the direction of Windows Media Player. A lot of fuss that you don't need when you just want to listen to some tunes. I use winamp 2 because it's so light, no annoying features, no slowing your computer down like hell... I mean, it can play video these days.

I really have to agree with Terryn, I'd rather use a burning-only program to burn my CD's.

This time I agree fully with you! I use Winamp 2 as well. It does everything I need it to, and it doesn't have any compatability issues that I have noticed so far.

I have to admit though. The newest Windows Media Player has one nice feature that Winamp 2 seems to lack. I love having the ability to speed up your songs to up to 5x as fast as normal so you get to hear them in chipmunk mode. There is nothing that can chear you up more than listening to what seems to be impossible musicianship (or madness, up to you) and insanity. Mind you, for some bands like Evanesence, speeding it up to 5x the normal speed actually makes it sound technically proficient enough to be classed as "JUSTBELOWSUBPARTALENT".

RARR! Why does every program I like have to get bogged down in half-assed 'features' that other programs do perfectly well already? I want Winamp to PLAY MUSIC! I have (the older, decent, reasonably-sized) Media Player to PLAY VIDEOS and Nero for CD BURNING.

I DON'T WANT SUPER-DUPER INTEGRATED ALL-IN-ONE WONDERS THAT DO THE JOB 5000x LESS EFFICIENTLY THAN THREE SMALLER, TIGHTER, SEPARATE PROGRAMS!
</rant>

So yeah, I still use Winamp 2.

I use the Ancient Winamp. Not Winamp 2. Anything else takes too long to load.
