PyZeux An MZX-styled game in Python

I've been toying around with Python for quite some time now, and I've been entertaining the idea of creating a Zeux/Megazeux styled game in it. It wouldn't actually attempt to become an 'Ultrazeux' of sorts, with a full in-game editor and scripting capabilities, but just a standalone game that had the look and feel of a hypothetical enhanced Megazeux clone. I've got a glyph renderer actually working right now (with the glyphs processed from a xml file rather than MZX's chr files), and I'm working on bringing over some classes from an earlier PyZeux (which used bitmap files exclusively) so that there are some basic objects that can be worked with.

protip: change the name! Making something Zeuxlike is fine, but games should be named in some way that reflects the actual game, not the fact that it is Zeux-ish

I support the concept of modern games sporting insanely outdated graphics. Mostly because, it's much easier on the programmer to create graphics in that case.

Eugene Jarvis, the Lord Almighty of Midway is a supporter of simple 2d graphics. They'll always have a place because the fastest games will require the least visual interference, plus the whole being able to see the whole field at once making intense action more likely thing.

Wow, what a run-on sentence. Probably all those action games.

Also, I'm not saying excessive detail is bad. Half-life 2, which has insane amounts of detail, runs at 1088x612 on my PCI video card with no problem and keeps a good frame rate with a lot of active stuff on the field, even. Still, after a long while of that some extremely simplistic, not-too-disorienting scenes can help.
