yeah, it's looking like you misread my reply and concluded something else entirely. please try not to do that, asgromo. :(

Well I'm already trying to learn C. I'm not going to work on Mzx though. Cause umm. If I do THE MZX COMMUNITY WILL BE DESTROYED cause I'll add all this stuff like EASY 3D and CHAR COLOR ADDER (like while in the char editor YOU CAN ADD COLORS :O) and MORE COLORS. Ya....it wouldn't be Mzx anymore :( I could maybe just look at the code and maybe edit it a bit just for fun but I'm deffinetly not making it a version. Just a edit ;) Anyways. Exophase needs a break. Well I geuss. Hrm.... SUCH A SMALL POST :(

Red Penguin will add a built-in 3d model injector, support for multiple physics engines, particle effects generators, and even include a free download of DirectX 10 to meet MZX's new system requirements! =D

That sounds like a really good idea!

Here's the new system requirements for Megazex:

Windows XP/Vista
5.0 GB of uncrompressed HDD space (minimum install, 10.0 GB full install)
512 MB of Ram (1 GB recommended)
Direct X 10 or compatiple hardware
3.0 GHz Intel Pentum 4 w/ HT or AMD Athlon X2
3 MBPS LAN or TC/IP for network play
some creativity

Let's get to work!

btw, I'm joking :(

Why else would someone write a video game, or a program for making video games, in C? Not to have fun? Not for other people to have fun? Where are you getting this stuff?

Just write it in C++ <:(

It's way better and does more things than C.

I would love to choke you right now, but that would be like strangling a cute little puppy dog. I just can't do it :(

anyway, if exo disappears, because H4RDK0RR C0DZ3R RED PENGUIN doesn't want to develop it (because he's too hardcore and would add easy, yet powerful and flexible 3D support, and high-performance virtualised robotic interpretation based on dynamic recompilation for the target platform), it might be up to me after all!

I don't see why you none of you guys really bother to study some C++, fix the bugs, and add new features yourself. Just because Exophase isn't here doesn't mean MZX is dead. Fixing bugs usually isn't a big challenge anyway.

I don't think Exophase belongs here anymore in my honest opinion. He has become a huge attention whore, crying about siro and his supposed "life troubles"; banning people left and right for making fun of him or those who are "behind him". I'm sick of hearing about poor little Exophase. I know that there are many people who agree with me, and others who will flame me for saying such a thing.

We don't need Exo. We don't need his em0ness holding back the production of MZX. He promises that he'll keep up his work and whatnot, after "his life has been sorted out". I'm tired of waiting on him. Hell, I would be more then happy to learn C++, study MZX's engine, and do some work on it. I don't understand why you guys don't do the same!

You are the fucking lamest excuse for a horrible person I have ever met, man. I mean seriously, this guy worked on this when he didn't want to, when he didn't need to, when he had a hell of a lot of better things to do. Why? Because he loved this community, man. And things got to a point where he just couldn't take it anymore. And I respect that, because I've gotten to that point before. What he did was logical, what he did was quite honestly one of the best things he could have done for himself, because the situation was making him crazy. But he tried, he stuck in there and did your grunt work for your community and didn't ask for shit in return, and this is how you repay him? THIS is how you fucking repay him? So you're going to go and shove that love back in his face just because you feel like this is your cause of the day, your fifteen minutes to stand out in front of everyone else and be the rebel. Well, fuck that man. I seriously hope no one ever takes you seriously.

And gromo, you need to stop making assumptions about what Burstroc is saying. He was just voicing his support for exo. Sure, it didn't come off great, but you need to count it as it lies.

Dude, did you even read past the first paragraph of that post? He's just being an asshole. I don't see how else you classify the suggestion that our hobby isn't worthwhile. Most hobbies aren't, by definition. I don't go to stamp collecting forums, assume a laidback attitude, and then rant at the users ceaselessly about how they're all uptight losers who need to get out more.

I reread his last paragraph and I get a lot more where you're coming from. He was still trying to show his support in his little, slightly arrogant way though.

Insidious, like I said before, I won't back off of my points just because of what Exo has done with MZX. Just because he's been the main developer for years doesn't mean I should treat him extra special when he behaves in such a manner on the internet.

I don't believe I've ever insulted his past devotion and skills. I am thankful that MZX is what it is today. That's not even the point though. Maybe what I'm trying to express is that Exophase has "lost his touch" or his passion. Either that or he's just seeking attention for unknown reasons!

But this is the here and now. Lancer said he would wait for Exo to make up his mind about wether he would keep working on Megazeux or not. That got me to thinking some things. The rest of you seem to be taking after Lancer, in a "wait and see" phase. This is only holding back everything. It's as if the whole of MZX production is riding on Exophase's emotions. He won't make up his mind about what he's going to do because he's too busy "sorting out his personal life". Well Exophase, it's a simple yes or no. If you say no, then we can go about our normal lives and other people will take over.

And if Exophase is REALLY that devoted to "his community", why isn't he here in this thread? Oh, because he banned himself because he was tired of it. I don't think you can say Exophase didn't want to work on MZX either. If he didn't want to do it, then why did he? It's not like we're forcing him to work on it.

Actually, you should absolutely treat him extra special when he behaves however he might on the internet. He's earned it. He's not behaving that badly regardless.

"MZX production" isn't exactly suffering from a lapse in updates. You can trust me that it's had much longer periods in which absolutely nothing happened. You weren't even around when you were required to set up VDMSound or even boot to DOS just to get the damn thing working. A "wait and see" phase is nothing.

What's with you and this fixation on the idea that Exophase is seeking attention? It doesn't even make any sense in this context, where Exo's mostly left the forum and the community in general. I think you're just projecting, and poorly at that. He has problems that are utterly inconceivable to you because he's a different person. It's your fault if you can't imagine a reality apart from your own.

Lastly, that user bar is just completely pissing me off. Couldn't you have found some subtler way to advertise your vices?

I think he's earned the right for us to at least wait for him to come to a decision this time. Really, apart from the win98/ME users (who I think I've mostly patched up), MZX isn't terribly unstable at the moment. Obviously if Exophase takes an indefinite amount of time to come to a decision we will have to proceed without his response and source, but I think he's earned at least that much. Give him time. It's not like we're in that much of a hurry.

Hey, get over it. I can totally understand taking a break for personal reasons. Been there done that!

Doesn't mean you have to support his personal life or decisions or attitude, but as far as mzx goes, give him a bit of space, and if necessary, things will move on.

It's just a dumb game :(

I hope you do realize the amount of work Exo has put into the development of Megazeux and I'm not just talking strictly about the programming of it. Think about all the emails, IMs and threads he'd get about "problems and bugs" with his latest version of mzx... version after version. Not to forget all of the random questioning periods n00bs would put him through. To have that kind of stress on top of you, plus personal stress... it truly does add up and I know this from experience.

I took a break from the Megazeux community because I had my combination of stress from here, other sources and in my personal life. The human mind is a fragile thing and when put through enough stress and drama it truly demands and deserves a break.

The plus side is when you return you become more stronger than ever... that is... when welcomed back respectfully as I have been, back into this community. So I truly hope if/when Exo returns you will all respect him as a person and for what he has done for each and every one of us. I fully respect the dude because he's truly done some amazing things for this community and to me personally with his one on one advice many years ago which i hope he's not forgotten.

By the way, whazup Greg! Don't think we've ever communicated before. I worship the keys you've pressed that resulted in the creation of Megazeux; which I've spent so many, many years using to create products from my imagination (and also existing games out there and just re-done them. I am obsessed with the replication of already existing games :( ).

Oh, the fickle nature of idol worship. What's wrong VinceP, shouldn't you be slamming Greg for getting all emo and leaving the community for "personal reasons" all of ten years ago, because he couldn't cope with the internet and transexuality? I mean, it would totally fit your MO. Isn't it far more likely that the reason people in his and Exo's position would leave is that they get sick and tired of dealing with people like YOU? People who have no sort of respect or tact at all regarding personal issues because, haha, the internet is just one big laff riot, and anyone who takes relationships or personal interests or life in general seriously deserves to be mocked incessantly. But oh yeah, add network support to MZX plzkthx.
Attention whoring my ass. Make a post proclaiming about how you're leaving and never coming back because of how horrible the community is and whine whine whine, well yeah, I can see that. But that's not what he did. Exo wanted to leave quietly, but he also wanted to prevent himself from being able to just come back, so he banned himself. This is because coming here, if you've been paying any attention to your general online activity, is habitual and possibly even addictive, and certainly not particularly healthy, given the climate here. If the community were really so inconsequential and unimportant as some people say, then why do I have ZoMbIEGuTs on the line over here, someone who has certainly said things like that, asking when he can be unbanned and clamboring to be let back in?
Now, the reasons Exo left are varied and complicated, but let me try to break it down simply. MZX now, as I see it, is basically a massive creativity black hole. It absorbs people's time and energy like a vacuum, and gives back little to nothing in return. It produces unmet expectations, disillusionment, and gross quantities of apathy. For someone already in a personal rut in other areas of his life, it is probably the worst possible place to be, and will simply cause one's will to do anything to further atrophy. Exo's decision to ban himself is in essence forcing himself to move on with his life, to create some new personal goals and start living again without using the community as a support group, because a support group that constantly drains your energy is operating counter to its intended function. Now understand, it's not that he doesn't like all of you guys (or most of you guys; some of you I imagine he doesn't like very much at all), or MZX, or the community. It's not that he wanted to leave, it's that he felt that he had to leave, in order to start living again. Which is why it had to be a ban, and not just a voluntary abstainence.
So that's what's up with Exo right now, and honestly he'd probably prefer it if threads like this didn't get started and you all started learning to cope, because he really doesn't want your attention. And he may be back in a month, or a year, or never. And you know what, MZX will probably still manage to hobble along and develop and do just fine without him constantly working on updates and dealing with bug reports and inane feature requests and the general retardedness that has been directed towards that. Even if it is a massive black hole of apathy. 2.81d, for one, will probably be released some time in the near future, just to finish off all the lingering issues it was supposed to address. After that, start talking to Lancer, because he's the one in charge of the source now.

"You people wouldn't know what to do without me."

....Incompetence is to be unable to grasp the truth.

pfft half of you people whining and complaining probably couldn't get an attractive female like sirotrax to go out with you in the first place, so you shouldn't really be commenting on exophase's emoness.

and instead of bitching about when new versions are gonna come out just stfu and go make some games for the current version, because like i said before, THE FUCKING GAME IS FINE JUST THE WAY IT IS.
