Message from the Management

When you finish a new game, demo, engine, or utility, the first thing to do is submit it to the archive for approval. (Log in first, then Upload a New Game from the sidebar.) Then feel free to post about it in this forum; in fact, please continue to do this. This is so people will actually know about your game and play it. As nice as it is to have archive uploads automated, it's not going to help much if no one knows you have a new game to play.

When uploading your games to the archive, please zip up your game using the .ZIP format, even if it is just a .MZX file. As for less popular formats (such as RAR and 7Z), games uploaded in these formats will be rejected. This is because as wonderful as those compression algorithms might be, ZIP is a near universal compression standard, and the only one that will work with the in-game archive browser planned for MZX.

You can also attach your game to a new thread in this forum. In this case, you can use whatever compression format you find suitable. NOTE: Games posted this way won't be put into the archive unless submitted to the archive proper, or unless the author states he/she wants the game in.

Lastly, we suggest you post a suitable screenshot of your submission (in PNG format) along with the game.

So, I've been doing this thing lately where I enter game jams on itch.io and submit MegaZeux games. In many ways MegaZeux is the perfect platform for game jamming - it enables very quick prototyping, it can create games that are playable in the browser, and it's nowhere near as bloated as tools like Unity are. As part of my quest in trying to convince people of the superiority of MegaZeux I've been entering a number of these jams recently. I encourage you to do the same - hit up itch.io, go through the upcoming game jams list, find something that sounds good to you and go for it. It might be the closest thing we have to a DoZ for a while.

This game was made for the Magical Girl game jam and the 7 Day Roguelike Challenge. This was also an attempt at making a mobile-playable MegaZeux game (screen touches get translated into mouse clicks, so it's mostly a matter of creating a control scheme that happens to be friendly to mobile users.)

Lachesis also entered the Magical Girl game jam with a MegaZeux game; the visually spectacular and very smooth Yternis Magissa Novella (which came 1st in the jam! Congratulations, Lachesis!) KKairos entered the 7 Day Roguelike with the very fun Endgame 437.

31st (out of 46 entries) in Magical Girl game jam

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(

This game was made for the Dungeon Crawler game jam. It was my attempt at using some of MZX's newer features, such as unbound sprites, to make a first person 3D engine, like that seen in games like Weirdness and Bernard the Bard. Maxim drew many of the sprites and textures used in this one.

This game was made for the Bullet Hell jam and B&W jam, hence why it's a black and white bullet hell shooter. Maxim drew all but one of the enemy ships in this game. The Bullet Hell jam had a subtheme of 10 seconds, which was incorporated into this game by giving you a hyperdrive with 10 seconds of fuel left, which needs to be used strategically to avoid enemy attacks.

Placed:
9th (out of 358 entries) in Bullet Hell jam
2nd (out of 218 entries) in B&W Jam
