Preferred Name in Person w/ MZXers For MZXCon or other Meetups

I figured this topic's time has come, since MZXCon is getting bigger year after year, so lets grease the social proceedings. List your preferred moniker or monikers here!

I prefer being called Dylan, Sid, or Insid. Insidious is a little cumbersome but I won't eat you for it. If you call me Zaph or Zaphod I might.

EDIT: I'm assuming nobody will mind if I pin this at least until the start of MZXCon 2010

<@Tixus> Anyway, I set the year to 1988 for some reason.
<@Tixus> And set the microwave to run for a minute and 28 seconds.
<@Tixus> But it failed to send me back in time, and I was disappointed.
<Insidious> Tixus accidentally microwaved the 80s
<Insidious> that is my takeaway from this

insid, is 'zaphod' the only old nick you don't like people using?

I don't think this is really too pressing. I'm sure everyone knows my name anyway, but you can just call me CJA. Don't bother pronouncing the A. Commodorejohn usually goes by John so there's no ambiguity between "CJA" and "CJ".

We'll refer to each other via screen name anyway, according to experience.

Generally thats how it goes, yes, CJA. Some people don't like being referred to by their screennames, or at least their full ones, in person though. I may be the only example of this (mostly because my full screenname just sounds cumbersome), actually, but still.

Your nick happens to be one of the few nobody could really shorten anyway.

Another reason I started this was because I was musing on the bus as to how asgromo prefers to be called. "A Sgromo"? "Anthony"? "Tony"? "Sgromo"?

I usually use the last but it may be a little too formal

I may or may not respond to any of the following:
- MZX
- Em Zee
- Giant
- MZXG
- Zee
- Anthony
- Anth
- Tones
- Glenn
- Ike
- Robert
- Matt
- Tim
- Hey You
- F$&cking web dev

I prefer some variant of "Anthony" or "Tones", though. If you're hard pressed to remember, "Giant" will do.

edit: Fixed.

You forgot "Zee". Or am I the only one who still calls you that?

EDIT: He added it. :pirate:

I don't know if I'd end up answering to duvel or ler. I'd definitely answer to Luke, and I don't think Fungahhh or Luke Drelick is going to be there so there shouldn't be any issues. You could try calling me by screenname, anyway.

As CJA noted, I typically go by John, but some people were calling me "Commodore" for short, and that worked, too. I don't mind either way.

Seriously, call me what you want but everyone else will probably be calling me Exo and it might be weird if you don't. If you do call me by my name I'd prefer that you pronounced it correctly. And don't abbreviate it. thx

abner.

okay not really. if i had to pick a different name with the same primary character, though, it would definitely be abner.

in the past, people have gone with pyro. that works i guess...

edit: people at work also call me "triple a" because of my initials, so that's cool as well.

I think I yelled "Andrew" at you at Wal-Mart and it was an awkward. It would have been a lot more awkward had I yelled "Pyro", though. Or Abner, for that matter. I admit I probably could have just walked over.

Everyone can call me Anthony or Tony or whatever, context is kind of difficult in close quarters with MZXG, though, so maybe stick to Anthony for him and Tony for me. I don't really prefer Sgromo because it brings back memories of secondary education (well, not sure anyone really called me that).

I'm actually not going to MZXCon because CJA and Guy would bully me and call me fat and Kuddy would tape messages to my back :((

Fortunately Guy isn't going to be there ;p CJA doesn't actually seem very bad. I also don't think he'd call you fat. I don't think anyone at MZXCon would call you fat.

yeah, in general we all become completely harmless in person, because it's like "oh this guy is, like, right here... better not... say anything..." and also because they turn out to be a cool dude

I stayed pretty docile even though I got interrupted half the time and at one time really bored and annoyed (playing through an unfinished sequel to Weirdland or whatnot for three hours without understanding any of the humor whatsoever)... I guess I need to be a lot more vocal, because I'm definitely a vocal person. but, I try to Keep it Real.

I think we need two BKZXes, or a swap BKZX or something rad

Does it have a built in forcefield?

Because if it does, Exo will just bring his dinosaur. It eats forcefield dogs.

Also since I haven't replied to this thread yet, if it wasn't obvious already, call me Wervyn. All my friends do.
