Dead topic revival

For those who have been reviving topics, I think I'll lay down a bit of topic etiquette for you. If a topic hasn't been replied to in a week, then it's best if your post contributes something useful to the discussion and isn't idle chitchat. (ie. "Damn, I missed my chance to join this group. Oh well.") On the other hand, if it's been idle for three weeks or more, then you had better have a damn good reason for bringing it back up. If not, I'm just going to lock it. PLEASE check the date of the last reply before contributing your two cents. I can't stress this enough!
And for the ones that think they're suddenly figures of authority and can boss the people above around just because they've been here longer (you know who you are)... if you're thinking of posting that kind of stuff, take my advice and don't. You're not moderators, and you're just as annoying as the people you're whining at, if not moreso. It's best that you leave the discipline to us.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum business.

... I'm not post count farming. =(
Let me make the point that posting "OMG DEAD TOPIC REVIVAL YOULL BURN IN HELL FOREVER" not only doesn't help anything, but you're also reviving it just as much as they are. Unless you can LOCK the topic then you're not doing anything, so leave it alone.
However, if decent conversation is sparked again in the topic and you have something to say, you'd may as well add to it. If it turns out to be a meaningful topic again then we don't have any problem with it. Just think before messing with these... We'll try to specifically comment when we think that topics have become "revalidated."

i agree with both points made. topic revival is annoying, as is yelling at topic revivers.
<pyro1588> "welcome to australia, can i help you find what you're looking for?"
<Tox> pyro1588, I'm giving you the most reproachful of glares right now.

So is replying to a post simply restating what the original post said.

By the way, listen to them guys, this is why I don't reply to any dead topics that haven't been revived. It's like contributing to the problem. Let them take care of it.

In the case of personal threads in Creation Corner, journal threads and the like then we're pretty lenient on dead topic revival. A game project is dead only when the worker(s) officially prepare a eulogy.
As for you one-sentence posters... STUFFOO

Yeah, well, after having such a thing happen a few times at other places, I don't think it's that amusing anymore.
Serious damage to important body parts pretty much ruins any plans you had for living. Bummer.

Probably would have been more amusing if, like Lancer said, it was done on October 16th. Also - why hasn't Kuddy locked this yet?

Heh, I remember when this thread was posted. I don't think anyone's actually been more then formally warned for thread revival.
