Feel free to tell me (with proof) if Lancer or someone got a really good time in Caverns of Zeux in the past, because I'd like to try and beat it if it exists.

I had the crapass idea of making a Caverns TAS. The problem is that MZX likely uses a platform-independent RNG with a time-based seed, so any random enemy movements would be entirely unpredictable. Not as much as a problem for the builtins as with the bosses.

I played through Caverns again a week ago and got horribly lost, of course, because it's a MZX adventure game. It probably took two hours at least.
Need a dispenser here.

I've only speedrun Forest and Catacombs. I did "route" Caverns in the past but never got around to doing a speedrun. IIRC my hesitation was because certain parts were a bit too unpredictable / difficult, especially compared to Forest and Catacombs. I could be imagining things, though.

To TAS Caverns I would suggest seeing what other people have done to TAS with DOSBox. DOS MZX seeded the RNG from system time with 'int 1ah', but it might be possible to overcome that if DOSBox can be configured to start up with the same BIOS time each run.

Watching Kuddy play nWo was pretty hilarious - can't believe I made that game 17 years ago :(

Yeah, I'd love to rework the menu system since it's pretty finicky, and the encounter rate to be a bit less steep, but what I love about the game in particular is how 90's it felt. I wish I had that kinda creativity to make something as crazy as that again... dialogue based on eurodance lyrics, a happy hardcore-inspired soundtrack, callbacks to StarTropics, Xenogears, DQ and SaGa.

I streamed Battletoads today. My first PB sucks. So watch this PB instead. It's better.

<Nadir> mzxers don't make GAMES, usually
<phthalocyanine> they make experiences.
<Nadir> demos, more like
<Nadir> a glimpse into what could have been if mzx wasn't such a bore to work with
<Nadir> actually, i'm being unfair
<Nadir> i would have made mzx games if it was capable of running on more than 20 computers worldwide in 1998
<Nadir> >:D

<%Alice> functor
<%nooodl> i hear C++ has a thing called functors and they're completely different from Haskell functors...
<rorirover> the result is the most horrid thing in C++, it's basically black magic and it transforms any code you're writing into some eldritch monstrosity

I take it that it was an early research stream as he looked pretty lost (I just had a glance when it was live, didn't watch from the start)

Not that I can blame anyone for getting lost in Chronos Stasis - there's a mandatory period of wandering around trying to figure out what to do next in that game. Or wandering around trying to find that last stray robot..

I may actually do some live twitch streams in the future now that I got a better internet plan (in terms of upload speed).

Apologies for commenting on the old post I'm just seeing now, but...

Wouldn't be too hard to add a command line option to MZX to override the RNG seed (and probably apply it whenever the game is started) Seems like it could be useful for some other things.

Considering doing some Live MZX'ing on Twitch in Fall (September / October). So you can see how I go about level design, character design and even a little bit of programming (which im sure if anyone from here is in the chat will have lots to correct me on).

Be kind of cool if everyone had a project they were working on that we could see a bit of the live process of its creation.

Feel free to add me: teabone3

I've done a recent test with streaming MegaZeux and it works pretty nicely so far.

Hey everyone, I'm not sure how this slipped past me. But I just found out that Youtube is offering game streaming service of their own to complete with Twitch, https://gaming.youtube.com/

Funny I just saw that tonight, actually.
Currently working on Servo for MegaZeux, I hope to complete it by the middle of 2015? Who knows...

I am completely addicted. Me and friends are up and its 4:33am. We are all streaming and checking out each others chats/streams. Doing Let's Plays of our own. We might have to update the twitch list to also include Youtube links. As I can see this being a big Twitch killer. I'm quite impressed.

I just did a stream and must say its an awesome experience. With it being through Youtube I can stream to the same fanbase. I have about 500 subscribers on youtube where as on twitch i think i have 6. I'll be streaming a lot more and for sure will be streaming MegaZeux as well.

I streamed Shovel Knight blind a couple months ago, so it only seemed appropriate that I stream the DLC as well. Here's the first half of the playthrough.
