Interesting approach there, banning the former admin exophase fella. What happened?

When you want to know why someone was banned, look at there last post. Scorch3000 asked Terryn to band him so he did, .....that's really
the only person I looked up. Apparently, Exophase got banned because he made this post. http://www.digitalmz...showtopic=10594 Look at the last one.

But, he could have done things like PM other admins or members with flame and such, made a VERY bad game, which the admins would've had to have removed instanty, made a review of flame or something,
or maybe advertising your Paypal name is illegal on DMZX I dunno.
But I'm especially worried about Exophase about being band because who's gonna make MZX 281d or future releases? Me? Maybe. Hmmmm.
That gives me an idea.......

Anyway, maybe we could ask another admin like Kuddy, Terryn, Werryn, Esdemo1, Tixus, johnw, or Maverick about this. I'm not sure if johnw or Maverick still post, though. :(

I don't think that last post, or any of his recent posts, will tell you why he's gone. And I don't believe anyone outside of him banned him, either.

He did. I was talking to him about it earlier.
He was having trouble dealing with certain people in the community and felt it best he forcibly distance himself from it.

I did that once, in a smaller community. I had such huge problems with a certain member there who was also an admin (personal reasons that don't need to be brought up), so in the end I just banned myself so that I wouldn't log on.

Exo banned himself, there's no mystery to it.

To be honest, the reason he did isn't much of a mystery either.

Just because Exo is out of the community that doesn't mean he stops making MZX versions. Exo doesn't always work on these alone all the time though, so there's other members that might have a slight idea on what to do with the versions.

Exo is still emo about siro.

I respect Exo for alot of things, but this emo bitching out trying to make siro feel sorry is just pathetic :(

Also about the development of mzx. In the case that he doesn't show up again, theres a reason the source is open, and it's so that anyone (and I do mean anyone) *could* just pick it up and continue the development, however, the community generally liked to pick and choose which version lives on and which ones DIE... lol remember how akwende released a version that only let you use his version's new functions if you set a special counter with his name in it to 1. What a blatand transparent and pathetic grab for imortality in the community, As if the utterance of FF:DP wasn't enough.

bye exophase, i'll miss arguing with you over mainly semantic issues. most of all, i'll miss your approach to my proving you wrong, which had something to do with calling me a moron first, telling me no one in the community likes me, asking me if i even know what i'm talking about, and THEN coming up with an argument. good times.

By god you're annoying.

I suppose I should read his livejournal (though I'm gonna assume it's a very one-sided story) because I'm really behind on the times.

How am I being annoying by saying I want to make a new version of Megazeux someday?

I'm sick of hearing people complaining about this--while it wasn't that good, at least it was an attempt at maintaining backwards-compatibility when adding new functions! A much better way would be to add a version key column to the counter table, as I have suggested many times in the past. At the moment old MZX games that just happen to try and use those new counters fail.

And if you say it doesn't happen, several bugs in old games have been attributed to this, especially the key#.

Don't say that akwende's mzxak_version or whatever counter was stupid if it at least did something that the current mzx DOESN'T.

For reference, if I continue developing MZX from my current copy of the source (I don't want that, I want Exo to come back), that (version key in counter table) will be one of the first things I add.

I think backwards compatability was the LAST thing on his mind, espcially since he named the version after himself. I mean who didn't know the name spider back when the spider version was the most used version branch? but at least spider put the letter in the version number instead of before it... I mean... REALLY

mzx2.51s1 yeah it has an s denoting spider made it... but at least its in the version number not before it in the title of the program like mzxak 1.0 or mzx Ak 2 GOLD! I mean SERIOUSLY.

However, the point you bring up is a good one even if it probably wasn't akwende's aim.

The problem with the counter-only solution was that it let MZX2.51s3.1 load MZXAk games. That resulted in calamity, because the only people using MZXAk at the time were the people who exploited the new features.

The fact that he had that counter does not mean he could not have versionstringed MZX files created with AK. While it was dumb, at least it was an attempt, which is a sight better than what we've got now.

I'm just saying that the counter gets flack because he failed to think things out; I'm not arguing with your methodology. It's always better to have multiple options of attack instead of just one, especially regarding code, and no one should have delusions that one method will work for every situation.

I'm just saying he didn't do it for compatability at all.
