pardon me for saying this, but I THINK THIS IS THE MOST PATHETIC THING EVER! i mean, does it matter? it's a rabbit. we eat lots of different animals all the time and people aren't paying 50k to save cows in a slaughterhouse.
also, since this worked so well, i wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing more websites like this. also, when you think about it, if everyone ignored this guy, he probably wouldn't eat the rabbit anyway.
DISCUSS
also, that toby stew recipe sounds really really good. and i'm hungry right now.

I'm SO jealous that I didn't think of that! capitalize on all the crazy animal people. pfft, animals. why isnt there any groups for the ethical treatment of plants? maybe I can start that instead and badger PETA for causing needless deaths of countless plants. animals are more tasty anyway, so why should we eat plants? heh. I guess maybe I could start carnivores anonymous. hmm...

At that same gathering, I also got to try venison and bear. If you're wondering, venison is good, but leaves a lard-y feeling on the roof of your mouth, while bear is like a richer version of beef.
(Grouse has gotta be my favorite wild meat, though. It's like turkey but with an overtone of corn flavor. No, really.)

Regarding "exotic" meats, I want to try buffalo. I hear it's very healthy and good at the same time, but of course it's expensive.

But you know the real reason behind this site ISN'T to save tobe. It's actually a creative way to get you to donate. Seriously, I'm willing to bet that the money they get from people who are saying stuff like "OH NO POOR RABBIT *donates a dollar*" isn't HALF used to feed and keep up with the rabbit
I'm sure that the person behind this site it making alot of money with this. Hell they probably don't even need a full time job.

Humans are just animals. Is human suffering funny?
Could you skin a rabbit alive and look it in the eyes while it bleeds to death?
What's different, morally, about condoning someone else doing it?

naturalist point of view: animals are lower than us on the food chain. we can do anything we want to them, just as something above us would have free range over any human it got its hands/claws/capturing device on. this would be my point of view on savetoby were it not a joke.
my point of view: I think it would be funny if someone posted a page threatening to eat one of their buddies unless a large fund is raised. it wouldn't be real. and if it was, there would be a quick legal end to it. this isn't real, so it is funny. in the same way that "kill bill"'s needlessly large amount of dismemberment and bleeding was funny.

In response to the christian point of view: Does the Universe revolve around the Earth?
There wouldn't actually be any legal end to it because it is not illegal.
The question is whether it is moral or not.
I have a way to test your convictions. Go kill a pig with a knife. In fact, why not torture it first? Hell, let's be natural: go wrestle naked with a Boar until you manage to kill it (or not). If you can do that, you will have demonstrated that indeed you believe to the core of your being that anything below you in the food chain deserves to suffer. Until you've actually tortured or killed an animal, you haven't really proven that you do believe that. Frankly I hope you never do. What about people? For example black people or native americans. They're lower on the food chain than western europeans, because we had guns, right? Men should just go around raping women because we're stronger and we want them, right? Nice.
The naturalist point of view is invalidated as soon as tools come into play, because they aren't natural. If you claim they are natural, then firstly you ignore the effect of technology (!) and secondly you are basically arguing that might is right. In other words, you're placing humans at the most basic level of savagery, below some of the more intelligent animals such as Elephants and Wolves.

Just because something's natural doesn't make it correct.
please, everybody, beat this into your heads.
Naturalists don't make sure EVERYTHING natural is done in the same way modern libertarianism doesn't correlate to anarchy.

So instead. I'm going to focus on PETA and supporters of them, or at least people who agree with them. I suspect Nedemai is to some degree since she says humans are barbaric.
Look, if you're going to call humans 'barbaric' because we happen to be life forms that require things such as protein which can be found only on other living beings, why don't you work towards finding a way for humans to live WITHOUT having to consume ANY life?
Humans have a hard time living without certain things that come from meat. If I could find the news story on it, I would, but I'd like to point out that two vegans were arrested for child abuse because they refused to feed their newborn child anything that was a dairy or meat product. As a result, the baby was getting sick and developing various conditions from lack of nutrients commonly found in those sources.
The funny thing is, PETA is always bawling about how "if you serve a hamburger to your kids you're committing child abuse!!!!!!111"
I'm not kidding either. Take a look around that site. Anyone who is in their right mind wouldn't support these guys.
