YES, Harold and Kumar is so very great. I have the special promotional cup from White Castle! I use it to make Kool-Aid these days. Also there are no White Castles in the midwest.

Closer is fun for the whole family.

I would like to see the Assassination of Richard Nixon. Has anybody?

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen...er, well, it IS pretty damned funny. Other good movies I've seen recently are:
The Village
The Secret Window
Shaun of the Dead (did anyone other than me think the title would have worked better if spelled "Shawn"?)
Peter Pan (the 2003 version)

The Forgotten and Hero were simply okay.

However, on the other end of the list...these movies were so terrible, that I recommend killing yourself if you ever watch them or have ever watched them:
Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Blair Witch Project 2: Book of Shadows
Van Helsing

These are simply my opinions.

In my oppinion: The Village was pathetic and Resident Evil was a blast.

Resident evil sucked. :D

There aren't many GOOD movies now a days... I mean there are nice ones, exciting ones and all that but really GOOD MOVIES have gone the way of the dodo in favor of more watered down action sex sentiment comedy style movies.

I mean REALLY, EVERY SCENE of ANY MOVIE now a days can be placed in one of thoes categories

ACTION, SEX, SENTIMENT and COMEDY.

Very little thought provoking material is ever offered anymore.

ACTION - OMG VIOLENCE, 3 seconds untill the universe is DOOMED! And crap like that

SEX - wether implicit or explicit these scenes offer little more than something to appease the horny masses.

SENTIMENT - "OMG I LOVE YOU, Blah blah blah" I hate this crap more than anything else, because not only is this usually REALLY DUMBED DOWN REPETATIVE sentiment, but I just hate the mushy stuff anyway.

COMEDY - "Hey what's this doo?" BOOOIIING!! *laugh track* And half the "funny" stuff isn't even funny, it's just DUMB. REALLY DUMB.

Of course sometimes there're combo scenes that sport a lil from more than one category These are usually a bit more innovative than the straight single category scenes.

Action/sex/sentiment - "THE WORLD IS ENDING, I LOVE YOU, *SEX*"

Comedy/sentiment - "I love you so much but you're stepping on my shoe" :p

Sex/comedy - "Mmmmm Yeah oh yeah" BROIOIOING! "OW!" *laugh track*

Action/sex - ... yeah a porno probably.

Action/sentiment - I think this could be something like thoes soap opera's you're mom watches only less sucky, but that's still not saying much.

Action/comedy - "WE HAVE 4 MINUTES BEFORE THE HACKERS HACK INTO THE WORLD!!! Oh hey I found my lobster bisque!" *laugh track*

Koji's theory may be only half true, but it is 100% funny, especially the combination scenes.

Pokemon Destiny Deoxys is not in theaters or on VHS/DVD. It was on at a certain time on Kids WB.

Matrix, because it kept me thinking that something wasn't right in the world;
Kung Pow, because i liked the cow fight;
Napoleon Dynamite, because Napoleon reminded me of myself; and
any of the Pokemon Movies plus YuGiOh the Movie because of my love of Anime. :D

This would have been funny by itself, but the dancing banana GIF is the real kicker.

Did I recommend A Mighty Wind yet? Go see it anyways. =D

Okay, I've seen a few more movies recently, most of them okay, some pretty good.

Trainspotting: I think this one's been around for quite a while, but it was excellent. Also there is a cute kitten in this movie.

Run, Ronnie, Run: certain parts were funny, a lot of it was supposed to be funny but didn't quite make it. The people I watched it with seemed to like it a lot more than I did, but they also all still watch South Park and all loved the cow scene in Kung Pow.

Napoleon Dynamite: My sisters hated it, I LOVED it. I want to live this movie. (^_^)

Shadows of the Dead: I couldn't make it past the first twenty minutes. Not really bad, just boring as hell. So, yeah, I guess that's kinda bad.

The Adventures of Milo and Otis: Okay, well, I've seen this one many times, and many years ago, but Apollyon bought it for me for Valentine's Day and it's still one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie is just one big "I wonder what cute thing will happen next" fest. AND I LIKE THAT SORT OF THING.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie
I loved it because I mean, it has the big real-life Turtles in it. When I was like 6 I would watch the movie literally 4 times in a row in one sitting. Ah, those were the days. ^^

Reversals had me laughing all the way from New Zealand to Australia by plane. I'm just glad my parents weren't watching it, because these two words sum it up: doctors and sex.

The Triplets of Belleville... an incredible oddly-animated "comedy"/something from France. Completely untranslated, but that's alright, considering that there were maybe three lines of dialogue. Its plot is centered mostly around emotions/facial expressions/music. I'd definitely recommend it, even if it got some iffy reviews.

consider yourself seconded, Sai`ke, Ghost in the Shell 1 and 2 (though 1 was better) and all the Tarantino movies. I have to add in Antitrust, a really great "hacker" movie so to speak.

back from the grave and all, I saw the movie "Angel's Egg" the other day- it was an interesting watch. Really surreal and abstract though, but beautiful art and a good musical score. 70 minutes long.

White Nights
basic plot: Nikolai 'Kolya' Rodchenko is a famous russian dancer who escaped from the soviet union eight years previous. when on a tour, the plane that he's on crashes in soviet russia. they take him prisoner and try to get him dancing in russia again so that he can project the "oh i'm so happy to be back" image.
nikolai is played by the amazing Mikhail Baryshnikov. half of the reason to see this movie is just to see this guy dance. he walks with his toes bent underneath his feet (i.e. he walks on the backs of his toes.) he also does an awesome slow-motion fall in the opening sequence. this guy is just plain amazing.

this movie is definately worth your time. your only trouble might be finding a copy of it. good luck!
<Tox> bah. I may as well give in and shop australia. D:

I know Stephi reccomended it, but so do I: Trainspotting is a very good movie with one or two very disturbing scenes in it, just so you know.
I also reccomend Jin-roh if you're into anime. Hell, even if you aren't you should watch it.
A Clockwork Orange is also a great movie everyone should see.
I thought Ghost in the Shell was terrible but yeah, to each their own, take a look at it since a lot of people liked it =/.
Another movie I reccomend is *gasp* Lilo and Stitch. It's just a disney movie that cheers you up (Ignore the existance of the series though).
And well, while they're not movies, I reccomend watching the animes GunGrave, Elfen Lied, Trigun (If you don't like the comedy part of it jump to episode 8 or so, it gets more serious continuatly from that point), Key: The Metal Idol and of course the classic ecchi anime Golden Boy which is just plain hillarious.
Phasing in and out now and then.
