I'm just going to pass on some information in hopes others looking for solution to this, I suppose rarer and rarer problem considering the age of my monitor, so most folks can ignore this.

If you edit the overscan area of your pi's config, MZX ignores this in it's own config file if you're setting it's fullscreen resolution. In order to properly display mzx fullscreen, you must account for the pixels of the overscan adjusted. If you mess the numbers up, MZX will not go fullscreen.

For instance, my specific problem was that I want to run my pi at 640x480. However, in order to get the entire screen to display properly on my monitor, I had to adjust the config file to account for 20 pixels on the left and right side for overscan and 16 on the top and bottom. This effectively makes the display 600x448. Setting MZX to go full screen into 640x480 would not work because the pi was reporting back the active overscan area. However, interestingly enough maximizing mzx would put it offscreen!

So for others dealing with overscan woes, simply adjust the fullscreen mzx values and you'll avoid the image being 'chopped off' or refusal of MZX to display full screen.
