What do you think about this censored version of the Id Software FPS "Wolfenstein 3d"? How bad was it to you? I want to gather some, uhh, opinions.

Nintendo, being a toy company for decades before their first electronic games, was still playing by the rules of the toy industry in the 90s. There's nothing necessarily bad about it. They were targeting children with their games. It worked well enough until older gamers saw the bloodless Mortal Kombat on the Super Nintendo. But even then they moved slowly, because they were cautious about changing the formula that made them billions of dollars.

There is some good to Nintendo's perspective. If the games are to be fun, they should be thought of as toys over as a way to make some kind of statement.
