I think I see what the problem is: to clarify, the hint for the store and the hint for Interchange B2 are completely separate hints. The Interchange B2 hint says nothing about a store, but the one next to it for Heat Sector does.
(Looks like email notifications are fixed for now...)
edit: thoughts on a patch to address some of these since I'm slightly overdue for some HELL mode bugfixes anyway:

Hi, sorry. I hadn't checked this forum recently (but I thought I had email notifications on for this thread...). I'm glad you're enjoying the game!

In Topic: How do I set up Built-ins to sprites
13 April 2022 - 10:00 PM
You should be able to just put the sprite reference on the board and have it display everything correctly. If black objects are showing up transparent you can set spr#_tcol to -1. It's been a while since I tried it though...
What HELLQUEST 2 does is a little more roundabout because there's a parallax background effect and some other nonsense built into it. It clears a section of the vlayer and then copies a block from the board to the vlayer. What it does after is a little more complicated but in the 1x display modes it just uses two sprites that reference the copied board and overlay. I checked and the two methods (sprite board reference, board to vlayer copy) use the same function to convert board objects to a character, so referencing the board should just work.
edit: note that using the vlayer method is nontrivial because it needs a board robot to execute after everything else on the board. This is so you don't get partial frame "lag" and other graphical bugs caused by using weird intermediate frame copies. -

The actual release of this game is out now. It fixes quite a lot of bugs and has some slight balance tweaks and performance improvements as well. (I also painstakingly filesize optimized all of the IT files.)
You probably won't need to upgrade a save from the beta, but if you want to, the process is basically:
- Back up/duplicate your save. Options for this:
- Make a backup if you extracted the new version into the old folder.
- Copy it into the new version folder or resave it from MZX into the new version folder if you didn't.
- Web player: play the new version, navigate to the previous version's data folder (2706 for beta 0.9), load the save, resave it into the new version's data folder (2707 for 1.0).
Don't try to do anything else while you have the old save loaded in the old folder, it probably won't work. rename(2) support in the HTML5 port is FUBAR so you have to go through this resaving process, you can't just use Alt+R to move the file.
- Make a backup if you extracted the new version into the old folder.
- Load the save you just backed up or duplicated.
- While you're still on the save circle, press F5 five times. A dialog box will pop up asking you if you want to upgrade your save. Select "yes".
- If everything worked, the game will reload with the player in the exact same position, and the usual start/save load animation will play.
Most important state is preserved between the SWAP WORLD but some obviously won't be, so expect e.g. puzzle pieces to reset and bombable walls that you destroyed to come back. - Back up/duplicate your save. Options for this:

I feel like I should clarify here as elsewhere: the current release is a beta and the real release date I'm aiming for is the 8th (the original HELLQUEST came out on April 8th 10 years ago...). There are going to be a few fixes of known bugs, but if you find anything, feel free to share it.
Stuff I already know about and/or will address:
