Ahh, BSD. 'Tis a mighty fine OS, it is. The fact that the ports system was an inspiration for Gentoo's Portage alone is a good enough reason for me to like it. ;)

Yeah. I'm actually starting to pick up C/C++, but not nearly enough to tackly the MZX source code or, most other apps for that matter. However, I can make some really simple programs. Such as "Hello world!"

But, in other words; yes I am.

Edit: I've compiled the MZX source code before, though.

Edit 2: On the topic of desktops, I'm thinking about replacing my Windows ME Operating System with Linux. I've already had a small discussion about it on another forum site.

Wow, you know, at least you know your limits.

Remembers RP's whole "i'll take over mzx dev" thing?

EDIT: You're switching to Linux? I retract that statement.

I do know my limits after looking at the source code as well as this. But, for now, I'll just stick to simpler languges like BASIC. Infact, I've learned some basic a little bit back, but have never really looked into it sinse. Maybe I should look for some BASIC software.

What's this I hear about RP?

Also, about the Linux thing, I'll do my best with it. I could always pick up a manual or help guide or book or whatever, and see how it goes from there. However, if I don't understand Linux that well, or at all, for that matter, then I could easily format the HDD and re-install Windows ME... *shivers*

I think what Spectere recommended was Ubuntoo or something. I'll have to check it out.

I WAS THERE.

Also, I wouldn't give up on C/C++ just yet. BASIC might be easier to learn, but it's not worth it. The only things that I use BASIC (Visual Basic, to be precise) for now are simple programs that I couldn't be bothered to write in a better language. BASIC is slow, there are about a million wildly different variations of it, and it can potentially be a nightmare to maintain (depending on which variation and development environment you're using, of course).

Yeah, what Spectere says - I think it'd be a better use of your time learning C than some flavor of BASIC, just my opinion, though. I guess it just depends on what you want to do, and how much effort you're willing to put into it to get there.

Saber isn't one I'd class as background material, but this pic was too good to pass up.

EDIT: Some things that the screenshot shows:

1) A snapshot of my bizarre sleeping schedule (5:46am lolz)
2) I'm _still_ listening to disillusion
3) I'm on IRC (but I'm not on Espernet, so don't bother looking =p)

Fun.

You didn't need to save your desktop as a PNG you know. Lossless is wasted on those screenshots.

and while you're at it, save them with the filename 'NUL'. (unless you're on a *nix box, in which /dev/null will suffice)

(Note: the link should lead to someof my other files, just find my desktop somewhere in there. It's desktop.png or desktop.jpg)
My Desktop is rather simple, there are plenty of old things i don't use anymore. In the background i am running mIRC, AOL 7.0(Dial-up is so slow ;) ), my mzx folder, and the ftp site i'm using to upload the picture.

Well, my monitor was from my Win95 computer that had a hard drive crash ages ago. However, I could change it to up to 1280x1024. But I guess I'm just used to 800x600 on this computer. ;)

It started when I disabled the desktop icons. It's not like I was even SEEING the desktop half the time, especially as I began to use the keyboard more as primary interface. The icons and accompanying text just got in the way of my desktop backgrounds and the quick launch toolbar is so much more versatile anyway.

That's when I downloaded rainlender and my fate was set for good. Just look at the CPU usage! That's not all BitTorrent, I'll tell you that right now

(thanks rainmeter, by the way)

I MOST CERTAINLY AM NOT!

i'm using a giant 19" monitor on a very high resolution (i think)!

infact, i was using the school computers today, and their monitors are only 800 x 600, i could not stand it at all!

if i were you (which thankfully, i'm not), i'd adjust the resolution and/or get a new monitor.
