In the current version, ALT+F opens up the SFX editor. This works fine. Choose CUSTOM and open up the list. Move to the page that has OUCH on WINDOWS 64BIT version. Hit backspace a couple of times on it's entry. Deletes well and good. Now try to add something back.

The same thing happens on the DOS version but on LAVA SFX instead.

As an aside, a couple of random times in both Windows and DOS, I could not edit the board name. Restarting fixed the issue.

"MagicGem" is the most reliable place to reproduce this in Windows and "Need Key" is the most reliable place in DOSBox-X with whatever the latest build I have on hand is. I can't get the board name issue to reproduce but probably something is being used uninitialized.

Commit GIT 25d638bd repurposed a previously-used variable that still had some attached code (effectively deadcode, which itself was broken by GIT 0d725815). This would lead to some text input fields consistently failing to accept input depending on whatever value was in memory in the last byte of their buffer. In the case of the SFX editor, this was usually uninitialized.

Fixed in GIT 72ef2ab7.
