A game creation system—or GCS for short—is a program designed to assist the user in creating a computer game, which typically consists of a game engine, a built-in suite of tools to edit games for that engine, and a set of default games to showcase the features of the engine. Game creation systems may be standalone programs (such as Game Maker and the RPGMaker series) or programs initially released as a game with a user-facing editor (like ZZT and MegaZeux).
